Railmagra is a block located in Rajsamand district and its head-quarter is at a distance of 80 km from Udaipur. Railmagra is a non tribal area, dominated by a Gogunda Kotra Kelwara Salumbar Aaspur Kherwara Idar Ahmedabad Udaipur Jaipur range of peasantry communities (OBC) and it stands in sharp contrast to the other blocks in which Aajeevika Bureau works. The region is rain-fed but landholdings are better than in hilly tribal region. Education, economic status and development indicators are also relatively better.  However, families are still heavily dependent upon migration to earn their livelihood.  Migrating male tend to enter the semi skilled or skilled labour niches and earn more than their highly casualised and unskilled tribal migrant counterparts.  Major migrant destinations are Ahmedabad, Indore, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. At the destination many migrants face problems with unemployment, inability to move to more lucrative jobs, high risk of exposure to STDs, and occupational risks.

The center in Railmagra is mainly managed in close partnership with Jatan Sansthan (www.jatansansthan.org, a local organization that has been working with rural adolescents and youth on issues of health, education and governance.  Along with registration of migrants, this center provides a variety of services.  The center facilitates regular village and block level meetings with migrants groups and consistent participation in panchayat level events known as Mini Sachivalaya.  It has also helped the organization of a block level advisory committee that brings together influential Railmagra citizens, officers and migrant groups.  The Railmagra centre has been a frequent venue for skill training programmes including for women. There has been an active collaboration of Hindustan Zinc's CSR wing in the sponsoring of training events in this block.  Recently, a financial Services program has been introduced which includes lending, opening of bank accounts, etc.
